With a faculty & administrative team of 275 comprising 26 nationalities, the School offers a comprehensive education to 2,400 students from more than 62 countries aged 3-18 in a stimulating and exciting environment. JIS is accredited by CIS and WASC and offers International Baccalaureate Diploma and Advanced Placement Programs.
Since its foundation in 1951, JIS has matured into a large well-equipped institution occupying three spacious and beautiful campuses. Pattimura Elementary (PEL) campus in South-central Jakarta, serving the needs of 400 students from Early Childhood through grade five, consists of 22 air-conditioned classrooms designed for the elementary learner, a Library Media Center with more than 20,000 volumes, attached computer lab, a theatre, gym/pool/cafeteria complex adjacent to our soccer pitch and playground and special rooms for art, music and reading, all located near the center of Jakarta.
Our second elementary campus, Pondok Indah Elementary (PIE) in South Jakarta, is home to 530 students. PIE's Library Media Center has over 40,000 volumes and the campus offers two state of the art computer labs, along with an excellent science laboratory. Other facilities include a theatre, an air-conditioned gym, a 25–meter swimming pool and accompanying wading pool, and expansive fields for outdoor sports.
The Middle School (grades 6-8) and the High School (9-12) campuses are a five-minute walk from PIE through JIS owned sports fields. In addition to its new technology classrooms, the lush 11-hectare campus has two libraries containing more than 60,000 volumes, two theatres, four modern gymnasiums, two weight rooms, covered tennis courts, new all-weather track, sports field and a swimming pool. There are 124 classrooms all tied into a School-wide network, with an E1 (2mb) dedicated link to the Internet.
Candidates must have excellent qualifications, teacher/specialist certification and minimally four years' teaching experience. Contributions to co-curricular programs are essential. JIS maintains an unwavering focus on student learning and an important source of professional insight is the expertise of faculty.
